Python for Building AI-Powered Applications

A hands-on exploration of artificial intelligence.
In this intensive two-week course, students will acquire foundational skills in Python programming, culminating in the development of an AI-powered application utilizing OpenAI's APIs. The curriculum encompasses essential topics in computer science, including data types, control structures, functions, data structures, and principles of object-oriented programming.
In the second week, participants will engage in an in-depth exploration of APIs and will undertake a project focused on the integration of AI technologies. Potential project outcomes include the creation of interactive chatbots, personalized recommendation systems, text-based adventure games, and question-answering assistants.
Each day combines structured lessons with practical coding exercises, equipping students with both hands-on experience and a solid foundation for future studies in computer science.

Python for Building AI-Powered Applications is a residential program on LMU's Los Angeles-area campus. There are no commuter options at this time - all participants are required to live on campus for the duration of their program.

Students enrolled in our "Python for Building AI-Powered Applications" course will experience an industry day at a local aerospace company to learn more about career opportunities for computer science majors.

2025 Program Cost: $6,125
The program cost includes:
- Tuition for two-week, non-credit course
- Housing and meals for two weeks
