For over 100 years, LMU has been committed to promoting a learning community inspired by “magis” – a Latin term describing our incessant and relentless desire to do more. LMU seeks to develop men and women for others; individuals like your student who will enrich our community and advance our mission of the encouragement of learning, the education of the whole person, and the service of faith and the promotion of justice.
Are LMU Summer Programs Right For Your Student?
Our academic pre-college programs are built with care by a team of distinguished faculty and summer program administrators to ensure students get a taste of the high-caliber academic experience our undergraduate students receive each year. Both credit and non-credit summer programs are modeled after actual undergraduate courses and take place in LMU’s top academic facilities. In following with the University’s globalization initiatives, we make every effort to transform Los Angeles into a pre-college classroom as well, with academic field trips into different parts of the city that allow students to further explore career paths in that field.
With this unique preview of life on a college campus comes an opportunity for personal growth and greater responsibility. This means being prepared to behave as a young adult and maturely enjoy the college environment. Students embarking on this amazing academic experience should be mature, thoughtful individuals and understand that they are accountable for the work they undertake in class and for knowing and following LMU’s Pre-College Code of Conduct.
Many of our students tell us that their favorite part of the program is the ability to take on more responsibility and to grow as a young adult and individual. We work with students in and outside of the classroom to provide a place to explore interests – both old and new – and an opportunity to explore and continue expanding their own horizons. Everything we put into the program is created with the intention of better preparing your student for the four-year university environment.
